September Celebrating: Back to school, Talk like a Pirate, Hug a Vegetarian, Equinox and other activities!

Hello my dark-lings and curious ones!

"The Harvest Month" is one of the most busy ones of the year, is a Month full of celebrations and responsibilities, full of new beginnings and opportunities, Virgos and Libras honour their birthdays on this 9th month, some of them with forget-me-not flowers in their heads and sapphire jewelry, summer leaves welcoming the beautiful colourful season of autumn. After returning to school and work many begin to prepare for the next month's most beloved holiday for many which is Halloween, along with the appropriate change of wardrobe for the coming winds and rainy days.

Which was once known as the seventh Month in the old Roman calendar and now is known as the month of the piano and the chicken (wtf O.o), is one of the most beautiful and inspiring of the year, full of History and adventures to come.

This 2013 I’ll share with you the top 5 celebrations that i found relevant or unique as well as the 10 Events that you can't miss in Montreal area if you live here or you are visiting. October is coming soon and will be full of surprises so check as well its first week's upcoming events :D

Top 5 September Celebrations:

1.Wonderful weirdos Day(Sept. 9th)
If you live an alternative lifestyle then you are certainly a weirdo, and being a weirdo is a wonderful thing that we should all be proud of! so let's celebrate our weirdness and show to the world how cool it is to be just the way we are!

Ideas to celebrate:
-Dress as weirdly and creatively as possible on this day
- Let your inner child out and play, jump, dance, sing , run, spin as you feel it in the moment

-Challenge your friends and family to do something weird for the day

4. Talk Like a Pirate Day! (Sept. 19th)
"What do you do with a drunken sailor,
What do you do with a drunken sailor,
What do you do with a drunken sailor, earlay in the morning??"

Started as a Fun game between Guys and became an international celebration for now 11 years!, a whole day to rejoice, talk like a pirate and insult your friends to prove your friendship, for those lover's of the sea rovers is an amazing excuse... ehem... opportunity to dress like one, get drunk as hell and talk all day long with dirty mouth, if someone asks you simply say "Is Talk like a Pirrrrrate Day Matey! Ahoy!!!"

Ideas to celebrate:
-Go to work/school dressed like a pirate and talk like one the whole day! (go to the Official Page to learn how to talk like a Pirate in English, German or Dutch)

3.Hug a Vegan/Vegetarian Day (Sept. 27th)
Some say this festivity is the last Friday of September, others say that is on September 27th... since is a relatively new celebration there is not much information about this special day, but one way or another the Vegan/Vegetarian community is growing fast, and those who have tried meat, dairy products and eggs in the past and have willingly decided to became Vegetarian for whichever reason are overcoming a true challenge day by day, so let us praise their effort and reward them with a big hug for keeping their diet and lifestyle!

Ideas to celebrate:
-Become a Vegan for the day to get a hug too :P
-Make a Vegetarian or animal free meal and invite all your Vegan/ Vegetarian friends
-Go randomly alone or with friends in the streets asking to the people passing by if they are Vegetarian, if they are, make a group hug and say "Happy Hug A Vegetarian day!"
-Make a video, song or performance of some sort showing your appreciation for their effort
-Suggest an animal free menu for that day at your work, school or favourite restaurant or coffee shop to show your support
-Give a Vegan cake to your celebrated friends :D

2.World Gratitude Day (Sept. 21st)
It began at a Thanksgiving dinner held at the International East-West Centre in Hawaii 48 years ago and now is a world wide festivity to show appreciation, which it should happen on a daily basis but with the busy schedule of life sometimes opportunities pass by and are forgotten, so this day is a great reminder to express your gratitude to everyone and everything that has made a difference in your life. So, what are you Grateful for?

Ideas to celebrate:
-Make a Grateful Journal and share it with your dear ones in this day
-Show your Gratitude by giving back to the world, you can do so by doing something good for a random stranger and give him/her a note saying: "I hope it helps, all i ask in return is for you to help a random person, happy gratitude day!"
- If you are talented make a song, poem video or story talking about what you are grateful for
-Give thank you Letters, emails, notes, post cards, DIY gifts or thank you cookies :)
-Make an event with your community to honour what you are grateful for (The Goth community should celebrate together being goth and our awesome lifestyle)
